What’s brewing this weekend?

Shepody is making an oatmeal stout.

  • 7.5 lbs Maris Otter
  • 1.0 lb flaked barley
  • 0.75 lb rolled oats
  • 10 oz roasted barley
  • 6 oz crystal 90L
  • 3 oz chocolate malt
  • 2 oz EKG (60 mins)
  • Lallemand Windsor dry yeast

I think I put in too much flaked barley and oats. Runoff is quite slow, and I have to keep stirring the mash to keep it going. I’ve made this recipe before without the oats and it was delicious. Hopefully the oatmeal will just improve it. Efficiency should be about 82-84% with batch sparging. With this beer, OG will be about 1.052, IBU = 43, SRM = 35. The ABV wil be about 5.4%.
