New Mild Ale Recipe

We’re making this tonight. It will be a cross between a light and a dark mild ale. ‘Medium’ mild ale, maybe? The last time I made this recipe, my tasting notes said next time try one ounce of chocolate malt instead of two, 50% more EKG hops, and perhaps 1/2 pound of biscuit malt. Victory malt is pretty much the same thing as biscuit malt, apparently.

Anyhow, here is the recipe.

6 lbs Maris Otter
1 lb Crystal 60L
½ lb biscuit (or victory) malt
1 oz chocolate malt

1 oz EKG – 60 mins
1/2 oz EKG – 15 mins
Whirlfloc (10 mins)

Windsor ale yeast

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. There is a new homebrew supplier in town. I bought these ingredients from Grain to Glass, 579 St Mary’s Road, here in Winnipeg. They seem to be a pretty good shop. Nice to see a bit more variety here in the LHBS market.
