The never ending tank

It looks like my carbon dioxide tank is coming to an end. It’s about time. About six months ago I was trying to think of the last time I brought my tank in to BOC Gases to have it refilled. I believe it was in the spring or summer of 2004. That means the tank has lasted damn close to two years. That’s a long time, even for a big 20 pound cylinder. I kegged my Belgian dubbel today, and have the CO2 hooked up and the valve open. So that should drain a bit more off. Usually at room temperature, the gauge reads 800 psi, but a few weeks ago it was down around 700 psi and today it was a shade under 600. So it’s days are limited. When I take it in to refill it, I’m going to ask if they can tell me the last time I was in, if their computer records can tell me that. This time I’ll mark the date down in my brew log, so that I won’t be guessing 18 months from now.
