This is a modified version of Jamil’s Irish Red Ale ‘Ruabeoir’ from ‘Brewing Classic Styles’. It will likely be the next beer that Shepody makes.
Alcohol = 5.2% ABV
Mash at 153F/67C
11.25 lbs (5.1 kg) Maris Otter
8 oz (227 g) Crystal 40L
6 oz (170 g) Crystal 120L
4 oz (113 g) Roasted Barley
1.5 oz Willamette – 5% aa – 60 mins
The original called for a 6 oz of Crystal 40L, Crystal 120L and Roasted Barley, but I adjusted the amounts somewhat to what I wanted, plus I upped the hops from 1.25 oz to 1.5 oz. I may go with Willamette hops and Wyeast 1056, so this will likely be a somewhat Americanized version of an Irish Red Ale.
