What to make next?

I’m making a beer tomorrow, and for the last 3 or 4 days I’ve been debating about what style to make. The three contenders were a kolsch, and ESB and a heart stout. Pretty different beers, I think you’ll agree. By last night I had pretty much made up my mind and decided to brew a kolsch German ale. I had even posted a message on Bodensatz asking for some ideas on a grain bill.

As I was walking into the LHBS at noon today, I had this overwhelming urge to do an ESB instead of a kolsch, so I followed my instinct. I also picked up a Festa-Brew double oatmeal stout kit to dump on top of the ESB yeast cake after it’s finished, so I’m sort of killing two birds with one stone.

I guess the kolsch will have to wait another few weeks. And at that time spring will be here and I’ll have to decide whether to make the kolsch or another summer-style ale such as a cream ale. Too many beer styles and not enough time!

I really do want to make a brewing video. I’ll have to give it some serious thought if it’ll be tomorrow night.
